The conference put into perspective the proliferation of sanctions regimes enacted by the UN Security Council, regional organisations or individual states, and the resulting issues of international responsibility, human rights, available remedies and impact on cross-border trade and investment. Contributors included Matthew Happold (University of Luxembourg), Alfred de Zayas (UN Independent Expert) and Pierre-Emmanuel Dupont. Supported by the International Law Association, the Middle East Association and the Grotius Centre.
